Typically, abyssinian cats are healthy and have a long lifespan. With a good care and an appropriate diet they can live up to 16 – 20 years. Moreover, they are an active and playfull breed.
Abyssinian is a social cat that requires attention and activities. It is not a cat that enjoys life as “a decorative pillow on a sofa”.
We suggest to have another four legged companion for the abyssinian. In ideal cases that would be another aby. Abys have been considered one of the most tolerant cat breeds and therefore it gets along well with other pet animals.
Breed is also suitable for families with kids as it is energetic and patient, as well as it has a kind and positive spirit.
It suggested that abyssinians should be kept indoors, though it enjoys walks outside in harness. Dog like character makes it also suitable for those who consider them as a dog-person. It is well known that abys gets along and makes friends with other species.
For those who suffer from cat allergy, abyssian can be an option, as the allergic reaction is typically mild or negligible. Abyssinians can be used to desensitise from allergic reaction from cats. Even though, it is advisable to hold abyssinian in lap prior to any decision to purchase!
